GIRT Hamburg invites to its next event on 23 November 2026, organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Hamburg.

The shortage of skilled workers and young talent presents growing challenges for many companies in Germany. Industry and skilled trades, in particular, increasingly need to explore new approaches to attracting employees and tap into international talent pools. With its young population and strong interest in career opportunities abroad, India offers considerable potential for long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation.
Recent developments in economic policy, including the EU–India Free Trade Agreement, provide an important framework for strengthening relations between India, Germany and the European Union. Against this background, GIRT Hamburg is pleased to organize an informative and interactive event in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Hamburg. The event will address a very practical question: How can German companies and businesses in skilled trades attract young people from India for vocational training and successfully integrate them into their workforce?
The event will take place on 23 November 2026, from 17:30 to 20:30, at the Consulate General of India in Hamburg (Kohlhöfen 21, 20355 Hamburg).
We are particularly pleased that the event will be hosted at the Consulate General of India in Hamburg, providing an opportunity for members of the German-Indian business community to meet Mr. Raakesh Natraj, the new Consul General of India in Hamburg, in person. In his opening remarks, Consul General Natraj will share his perspectives on the current political and economic framework for German-Indian cooperation and highlight the relevance of the event’s topic from an Indian perspective.
The main keynote will be delivered by Dr. Stefan Diederich, focusing on the recruitment of young people from India for vocational training in German industry and skilled trades (original title in German: „Gewinnung von Auszubildenden für Industrie und Handwerk aus Indien: Beispiele, Kosten, Zeitstrahl, Unterstützung„). He will provide practical insights into how companies can recruit prospective trainees from India, the steps involved, and the organizational, financial and time-related aspects to consider. Drawing on concrete examples, he will also discuss typical challenges and available support services. Dr. Diederich will share practical experience gained through his work as Managing Director of Indienbrücke GmbH.
