Some interesting, new figures on tourism in India

„In 2012, India received 6.58 million foreign tourists, up 4.3 per cent over the previous year. India’s foreign exchange earnings in 2012 from tourists were USD 17.74 billion, showing an increase of 7.1 per cent year on year.

„India’s share in the international tourist receipts in the year 2012 was 0.64 per cent with overall ranking of 41. The country’s share in international receipts in the year 2012 was 1.65 per cent with overall rank of 16.

„Foreign exchange earning from tourism during January to August 2013 were USD 12.025 billion with a growth of 6.7 per cent, as compared to USD 11.273 billion year on year.“

The same report also suggests that India is considering granting visa-on-arrival, amongs others, for German citizens.

Logo India Week Hamburg 2013पिछले कुछ वर्षों की तरह ही इस वर्ष भी हैम्बर्ग शहर में पाँचवीं बार ‘इंडिया वीक’ का आयोजन किया गया। ‘इंडिया वीक’, अर्थात भारत सप्ताह, का आयोजन हैम्बर्ग राज्य सरकार द्वारा हैम्बर्ग नगर क्षेत्र एवं  श्लेस्विग-होल्स्ताइन स्थित विभिन्न आर्थिक, साँस्कृतिक एवं शैक्षिक संस्थानों के साथ मिलकर हर दूसरे वर्ष किया जाता है, जिसका उद्देश्य हैम्बर्ग में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था, राजनीति, समाज एवं संस्कृति में आ रहे परिवर्तनों का जीवंत प्रदर्शन करना है। इस वर्ष भी ७ से १५ सितम्बर (२०१३) तक भारतीय समाज एवं संस्कृति, अर्थव्यवस्था, सामाजिक कार्यों, बॉलीवुड एवं भारत में हो रहे विभिन्न तरह के विकास पर केन्द्रित एक बहुत ही उम्दा, दिलचस्प, रंगीन, विचारपरक एवं ज्ञानवर्धक कार्यक्रम की रूपरेखा तैयार, और सर्व-सामान्य को प्रस्तुत, की गई।

Hindi language trip to India

University of HamburgThe Department of Indian and Tibetan Studies, University of Hamburg, Germany, in cooperation with the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha, India, offers a language trip to India, from February 10th – 28th, 2014 for students and non-students of Intermediate and advanced level Hindi who are interested in improving and enhancing their proficiency in Hindi.
